Written By: Joseph Gillespie Micheal Dell, founder and Chariman of the popular computer manufacturer Dell, Inc. thinks that computer gaming could become a $4 Billion a year industry as soon as 2010. With more and more gamers moving into the online RPG world, and game graphics and technology getting bigger and better, the hardware is being forced forward. Dell is planning to fully embrace this move and provide more gaming suited PCs to consumers. Micheal Dell recently attended the Austin Game Conference, and had this to say: "Things like multi-core processors, acceleration engines for physics and graphics, wide-screen displays, web cams: there are a lot of great things happening on the hardware side that can really make the gaming experience quite exciting." Dell, Inc. is currently the leading personal computer manufacturer in the world, and brought in $55.9 Billion in revenue in 2005. Dell recently purchased one of the leading leading gaming computer manufacturers, Alienware, which only brought in $200 Million in revenue during 2005. The purchase proves how Dell will be embracing the gaming world, and producing more and more high-end game specific machines. Micheal Dell is a Texas native, and has often admitted to his personal love of PC Gaming. He says that he attended the Austin Game Conference in order to get in touch with game developers to see what type of hardware was currently hot, and what they wanted to see in the future. "I want to know what kinds of things they're looking for in hardware, and they like to discover what's happening with hardware, new features and new capabilities, so they can make sure they're enabled in next generation games." he said. Hardcore gamers have often felt that building your own PC is the only way to truly harness enough power at a reasonable price. But if Dell begins to mass produce quality machines, hardcore systems could be in the hands of the casual gamer. Last Modified: September 9th, 2006
